The Andrew Oliver trained newcomer Sendmylovetorose ran out an impressive winner of the opener at Navan this afternoon, the Lynn Lodge Stud EBF Median Auction Maiden, with Colm O’Donoghue in the saddle.

Purchased for just £5,000 at the Doncaster Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale in September of last year, the daughter of Bahamian Bounty was sent off at 16/1 on her debut.

All the money came for the Kevin Prendergast trained newcomer Spinacre who opened at 7/4 this morning before being backed on course from 5/4 into 5/6 favourite at the off.

However that one never travelled like a winner under Declan McDonogh as the Jim Bolger trained Strapless (5/1, drifted from 2/1 this morning) went to the front two furlongs out and kicked for home under Kevin Manning.

Sendmylovetorose went in pursuit of Strapless with two furlongs left to race and passed her inside the final furlong before staying on strongly to score by five and a half lengths at the line.

Strapless plugged on for second at 5/1 while there was a further gap of a length and a quarter back to the Joanna Morgan trained newcomer Desiderata in third under Pat Smullen at 7/1.

The favourite disappointingly finished back in sixth, while Andy Oliver’s other two runners Fontana Di Trevi and Youtalktoomuch ran well to take fourth and fifth respectively.

Oliver said afterwards: "I’m very surprised, but she did it well and came home well.

"I thought she needed the run but she had shown a bit at home. Colm gave her a great ride and he said there is more improvement in her.

"Obviously she handled the ground well."
