Veteran and yard-favourite Comfort Line (13/2 — 4/1) provided apprentice jockey Cillian Rowan with a first success today, as the Ado McGuinness-trained nine-year-old registered a tenth career success in Dundalk’s View Restaurant At Dundalk Stadium Handicap.

Having his ninth race, Rowan raced prominently throughout on top-weight Comfort Line and having led a furlong out, maintained his gallop to hold off faster-finishing Famous Enough by a neck.

McGuinness said "Cillian is from Monasterevin and is with me about five or six months. He has a lot to learn, has just turned 18 and had very little experience coming into me. It is great to get that first winner and he has ridden loads of work around here.

“It is brilliant for a young fella like that to get going. He'll remember this day for the rest of his life, and he will remember that horse as well.”

Regarding Comfort Line, he added "I lost this horse in a claimer one night and I was nearly hung at home for it! He's a big favourite in the yard and when he ran back in another claimer, and ran badly, I claimed him back. He's a real star in our place, gets to a grade and wins.

“He is going to teach those kids a lot because he half pulled himself up there. The kids will ride him and between Cillian and Gabriella Hill, I give them two goes each."
