Royal Ascot options still open for Simenon Willie Mullins will make a late decision on whether Simenon runs in the Gold Cup or the Queen Alexandra Stakes at Royal Ascot next week. The dual-purpose performer won twice at the meeting last year, taking the Ascot Stakes by six lengths and the Queen Alexandra by seven. He was subsequently found slightly wanting in Group company but ran a blinder in the Chester Cup last month to be beaten just over a length from a desperate draw. "He's obviously got the Gold Cup entry and he'll have one for the Queen Alexandra again on the last day," said Mullins. "I'm very happy with him at the moment but we don't need to decide just yet. We'll wait and see who runs where and see how his final preparation goes and we'll probably leave it as late as possible."
