Russell looks forward to Diamond in Drinmore Davy Russell expects to learn more about Diamond King's capabilities in the Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse. The dual champion jockey steered the Gordon Elliott-trained eight-year-old to Cheltenham Festival glory in the Coral Cup last season and he made an impressive start to his career over fences at Galway last month. Diamond King is a best-priced 10-1 for the JLT Novices' Chase back at Prestbury Park next March and he is set to test his powers at the highest level on Sunday week. "It was an unknown to me last year, how far he'd go," Russell told At The Races. "Gordon just kept saying he was happy with him going to Cheltenham, he did that and then ran back in a Grade One in Punchestown and I thought he ran quite well after peaking in Cheltenham. "He made a very good start to his chasing career. It's very early days and as regards where he'll end up, nobody knows, but he's definitely a horse that's enjoying life at the moment. "His next assignment, I would imagine, is going to be the Drinmore and people will know an awful lot more after that."
