Rutledge steers home 20/1 winner for Meade Placed in three of five previous starts and with a handicap mark of 70, Xirivella turned over some higher-rated rivals in the the Gleneagle Killarney Median Auction Maiden over a mile. Owned and trained by Noel Meade, the daughter of Gleneagles broke best but was soon restrained and settled in behind the leaders on the inside. There was no clear passage up the inner early in the straight, so Siobhan Rutledge gradually angled her mount to the outside and she began to pick up well racing to the final furlong. Fourth a furlong out, the chestnut finished best under a mostly hand ride to beat Karrygrant (second for a fifth time) by a length and three-quarters. "I was waiting for a gap, which wasn't coming, but I think it worked out for the best as I find that racing around here, you can get fooled into racing very early. Where she was unlucky today, it worked out all for luck. "She is versatile ground-wise. "I'm very grateful to Noel and I'm riding out with him a bit now. Noel knows what to do and it is great to be able to steer them. Every other day, I'm everywhere and anywhere and am happy to ride work for whoever." Additional reporting by Tom Weekes
