John Oxx reports Saddler's Rock to be primed for action in the Artemis Goodwood Cup on Thursday.

The Currabeg trainer was happy with the four-year-old's run in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, where he stayed on well to take minor honours behind the Godolphin pair of Colour Vision and Opinion Poll.

"He's in good shape. He's had an uninterrupted run since Ascot and he came out of the race well," Oxx told At The Races.

"He's been bouncing and working nicely. We haven't had chance to put him on the grass because of all the torrential rain we've had.

"However, we hope to get him on grass now before he goes to Goodwood. He's in good shape and hopefully he will have come on a little bit.

"Goodwood usually take a lot of trouble with their ground and hopefully it will be good - we don't want it firm either. Good, fast ground is ideal for him.

"We had a bit of a stop-start with him before Ascot. We had a great winter and spring with him and then he ran into a couple of little setbacks in the run up to the Gold Cup, so we had a bit of a struggle in the end to get him there as fit as we could have him.

"Obviously, (with) the way he finished in the race he was fit, but he's had a good run since then and I'm hoping the race will have sharpened him up and brought him on a bit."

Colour Vision could try to supplement his Royal Ascot gains as the four-year-old grey is also among 14 possibles for the Group Two over two miles.

His trainer Saeed bin Suroor could also be represented by the revitalised Cavalryman and Lost In The Moment.

As well as Saddler's Rock, there are two other Irish-trained hopefuls in the Willie Mullins-trained Simenon, winner of the Ascot Stakes and Queen Alexandra Stakes double at the Royal fixture last month and Paul Deegan's improver, Midnight Soprano.

Seasoned campaigners such as Aaim To Prosper, Askar Tau and Times Up also hold entries while Rae Guest's Ed De Gas is the only three-year-old in the list.
