Sahpresa lands Sun Chariot again Sahpresa finished with a flourish to secure back-to-back victories in the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket. Rod Collet's French raider created a 16-1 surprise when claiming the Group One last year but she was sent off a 9-2 chance this time around. Christophe Soumillon made it look easy aboard the five-year-old, coming through inside the final furlong to see off Strawberrydaiquiri by a length and three-quarters with Rainfall claiming third. Outsider Sent From Heaven was smartly away under Michael Hills and she took them along at a fair clip before running out of steam before the two-furlong marker. Perennial bridesmaid Spacious then made her bid for glory but old rival Strawberrydaiquiri was racing alongside and looked like getting the verdict from over a furlong out. Sahpresa was just hitting top gear by this point though, and Soumillon delivered her with a perfect challenge down the middle of the track to win in style. Strawberrydaiquiri kept on for second while Rainfall, who had been at the back of the field early on, finished to good effect. Soumillon said: "She is a great filly, she has to be to make it a double like this. "We were a bit worried about her at the beginning of the season and she didn't run well at Royal Ascot, although she did run well when winning at Longchamp last time. "The ground was a worry, but she travelled very easily. I was in front a bit early and I had to make her work as she was trying to stop in front. "She will probably now go to Japan, she is more mature now to travel there. She ran well over there last year but the ground was a bit sticky for her."
