Salmon Could Be Without Carberry Beef Or Salmon may be without regular partner Paul Carberry when he bids for back-to-back wins in Saturday´s James Nicholson Wine Merchant Champion Chase at Down Royal. Michael Hourigan´s charge confirmed himself on target for the Grade One race when working at his trainer´s Limerick base, having had a pipe-opener when ninth in the Irish Cesarewitch last month. 'He worked at my place this morning and will run on Saturday,' said Hourigan yesterday. 'The ground was a bit quick on the last day and they went a bit slow before quickening, which caught him flat-footed. But he was doing his best work at the finish.' However, the nine-year-old could have a new jockey with Carberry, who rode Beef Or Salmon three times last term including when landing the Lexus Chase, possibly being claimed by Noel Meade. 'I don´t know yet if Paul can ride as Noel has a horse entered, but I don´t want to mention any names just yet - we will have to wait and see,' added Hourigan. 'I hope War Of Attrition does run as they will find out what they have and it makes for a good race.'(C) PA Sport
