Dermot Weld's top-class mare Sapphire could make her seasonal reappearance at Cork next month.

Campaigned quietly at three, the Moyglare Stud home-bred made fine progress as a four-year-old during 2012, winning two Group races at the Mallow track before her best performance to date, when she beat Shirocco Star, Dancing Rain and Great Heavens in the Qipco British Champions Fillies' And Mares' Stakes at Ascot in October.

Sapphire had been engaged in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Blue Wind Stakes at Naas, but Weld said: "She might go for the Group Three at Cork (Noblesse Stakes on June 16th).

"It's a race she started off in last year, and we'll take it from there."
