Saturday´s Stable Quotes Saturday´s Stable Quotes with AT THE RACES3.10 AYR - Chookie Heiton Ian Semple said: 'He´s the stable star and has been for a while. He is a difficult horse to keep sound - with a big engine and no wheels - but he´s very decent at his best. He made an excellent start to this season, finishing fourth in the Cammidge Trophy at Doncaster in March, but after that he didn´t fire for some time - and it wasn´t a great deal of help that we had soft ground during the early part of summer. Suddenly, though, about mid-August, he started to come to hand and his work picked up considerably. I was worried that we might not get the right underfoot conditions at that stage but, fortunately, we took him to Beverley and everything came together. That gave him a 7lb penalty for the Ayr Gold Cup, bringing his weight to 9st 5lb, but he wouldn´t be out of it if the going was quick. The six furlongs at Ayr will be ideal - I was a bit concerned that the shorter trip at Beverley might be too sharp - and I´m very hopeful for 18 September.' 4.50 AYR - Ulysees Ian Semple said: 'We got him cheaply and he has repaid us by winning twice on the soft ground he needs. He´s absolutely bouncing out of his skin at the moment, but I don´t want to run him again until we get the cut that suits him. Six or seven furlongs would be his favoured trip and I shall be looking out for opportunities as soon as underfoot conditions start to ease again. He´s best when held up and, with luck in running, he can win more races.'
