Scott Key blew the start and had to race wide in the mile handicap at Gowran Park, but absolutely stormed home to win decisively.

The 10/3 favourite made progress approaching the straight and really announced his arrival on the scene two furlongs from home.

Andrew Slattery drove him into the lead a furlong and a-half down and he powered away from the field in the final furlong.

He opened up by four and three-quarter lengths from Ribee (8/1). Each-way players drew a dividend from Ohmali (22/1) and Refreshment (17/2) in third and fourth respectively in this 16-runner handicap.

Trainer Andy Slattery said: “I was hoping he’d do that as we’re going for a premier handicap at Naas on Monday and that will get him into the handicap.

“He’d three runs in maidens last year and was always big. He ran well on his reappearance at Cork where he was a bit green, and I thought he’d improve a lot.

“I always thought he’d handle that ground, and he did it well. Hopefully he’ll climb the ladder.”
