Seeyouatmidnight ready for Carlisle Sandy Thomson is hoping the weather does not throw another last-minute spanner into the works as Seeyouatmidnight prepares to kick off his season at Carlisle on Sunday. The 10-year-old is set to make his first start in nearly a year in the 188Bet Mobile Veterans' Handicap Chase after seeing his intended return in the Premier Chase at Kelso scuppered twice by the weather. With temperatures due to dip to -2C and snow flurries also forecast, this weekend's card is subject to a precautionary inspection at 8am on raceday morning, and Thomson is eager to run his stable star ahead of his intended start in the Randox Health Grand National at Aintree next month. He said: "We are keeping our fingers crossed on the weather. It looks all right, there might be a bit of frost, but hopefully it will be OK. "We're obviously keen to get a run into him. I'm delighted with where we are with him, I can't get him any fitter at home than he is, so we want to get a run in. We were ready to go to Kelso, but we have just kept him ticking over, even when we were a bit snowed in and frozen up. "He went to Carlisle last year and ran very well there (beating Bristol De Mai by 12 lengths), so hopefully he can go well again." Seeyouatmidnight is joined in the extended three-mile heat by stablemate Seldom Inn, with the six-runner field also featuring former Denman Chase winner Houblon Des Obeaux for Venetia Williams and the Ruth Jefferson-trained Firth Of The Clyde, who won this race in 2016.
