Hercule Du Seuil justified his short price with a effortless success in the featured Grade 3 Kilbegnet Novice Chase at Roscommon this afternoon.

Mark Walsh, who was recording a double on the card for boss JP McManus, bounced out in front on the 2/5 shot and the Willie Mullins-trained gelding never had a moment's worry in the two-mile contest.

The six-year-old put the race to bed before the penultimate fence and cruised home from the back of the last to record a 12-length success. Calico just edged the runner-up spot from The Banger Doyle after a photo.

The winner was recording a four-timer over fences and racing manager Frank Berry said afterwards:-

“That was lovely. He jumped well, settled away and handled the ground.

“We didn't know how he would handle the ground but Mark said he handled it quite well. It's loose and he got through it.

“We'll see what happens when the better ones come out but he's going the right way and he's had a good season so far. We'll see what Willie wants to do with him.

“It's a lovely race to find for him here and a flat track suits him well. You couldn't have asked for better.”
