Queen's Cup winner Carbon Dating has the Huxley Stakes at Chester's May meeting as his next objective.

Back in the care of Pat Shanahan after spending the winter in Dubai with Satish Seemar as he has for the past two years, he landed the 100,000 pound prize at Musselburgh in fine style.

To cap a great result for Shanahan, stablemate The Tartan Spartan finished third on only his fifth career start.

"I think we'll look at the Huxley Stakes," said Shanahan.

"He's spent three or four months in Dubai and I'd like to think I'd be in good form if I'd done the same thing!

"He had nine runs out there, he even ran the same week he came home, and I was amazed at the condition he returned in.

"Some that go do show the effects, but he was in unbelievable shape and we'd aimed him at the race so it worked out great."

He added of The Tartan Spartan: "I've always thought a lot of him and quietly fancied him to run well in the St Leger, but inexperience caught him out that day.

"There is a race for him at Chester over a mile and five (Ormonde Stakes), but I'm not sure Chester will be his track as you're on the turn all the time and that might not be for him.

"I'll just have a look and see what else there is."
