The Fozzy Stack trained Two Stars continued his rise up the sprinting ranks when winning the Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Woodlands Stakes (Listed Race) at Naas.

Successful in handicap company at the Curragh on his reappearance, the gelding bridged the gap to Listed class with an impressive performance under Joey Sheridan.

Breaking smartly to lead in the initial stages, Two Stars was headed by Escaping Thejungle after less than a furlong.

Travelling strongly to regain the lead over two furlongs out, the five-year-old was soon strongly pressed by market leader My Mate Alfie

However, the eventual winner found plenty for pressure, staying on strongly inside the final furlong to score by half-a-length.

Fozzy Stack said: “He’s fast. If anything is in front of him, they are going too quick!

“Joey said where he wins his races is between the two pole and the one.

“I was a little concerned about the ground drying out, but I walked it and was happy enough. It is what they are calling it and is not a summer good to yielding. There is plenty of juice in it.

“Five is his thing and I wouldn’t like to take on Ger’s horse over six.

“We’ll keep him going for a little bit and then give him a break and maybe aim for the Flying Five which has a habit of coming up soft.”
