Silence strikes as Godolphin dominates The Godolphin team enjoyed their third winner of the opening day of Royal Ascot as Sound And Silence (16-1) led home stablemate Roussel in the Windsor Castle Stakes. The Charlie Appleby-trained pair traded blows all the way to the line and it was Sound And Silence who gained victory by a neck in the hands of William Buick. Buick was completing a double following his earlier victory on Ribchester in the Queen Anne Stakes. He said: "That was a great result. Charlie and myself have always held him in high regard and he showed up really early as a natural. He won very well at Newmarket and we were scratching our head after Sandown (fourth in National Stakes). "Charlie nursed him back, he's been working nicely and I thought he was really good there. Charlie's got the one-two and they are two nice horses. He's a real speedster, I don't think he wants six furlongs yet. "The horses have been in great nick all year and they've had a great preparation. Royal Ascot is very important, but you've got to do the same as you do every day."
