Simenon has Melbourne Cup target Willie Mullins believes he could have a contender for the Melbourne Cup with Ascot Gold Cup runner-up Simenon. The Irish champion jumps trainer has grand designs on the Flemington feature in Australia after his six-year-old got to within a neck of Estimate on Thursday. Mullins was represented in the 2003 Melbourne Cup by Holy Orders, who came home 17th behind the great Makybe Diva. "It will be interesting to see if the Australians reciprocate the mark he gets in England," said Mullins. "Since Holy Orders I've always wanted to have another go at the Melbourne Cup, if I had one good enough."
