Sindria cut down the favourite Shakazia to claim the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden over an extended seven furlongs in Leopardstown.

Seamie Heffernan looked to make a race-winning move aboard Shakazia when he kicked for home approaching the final furlong.

Sindria, wasn't done with in third, though, as racecourse commentator Jerry Hannon noted and Chris Hayes soon got into the drive position down the centre of the track.

He improved his mount into second entering the final furlong and they soon had Shakazia in their sights.

The leader was all out in the final 50 yards and Sindria scented victory as he ran past in the final strides to score by a head at 3/1 from the 6/4 shot. Lavender Breeze (7/1) dropped four and a-quarter lengths back to third.

Dermot Weld said: “She ran a very good race on her only run as a two-year-old (seventh in Curragh) and at Naas the ground was probably a bit quick for her, and she ran too free early on.

“She only finished about four lengths behind the favourite in Naas (in eighth) having done a lot wrong. We’ve spent a lot of time over the last couple of weeks just getting her to relax and settle to enjoy her work. The proof of the pudding was winning there today.

“She’s by Kodiac out of a Galileo mare and that’s why she came home well there. A good ride from winning jockey.”
