Survivors Sister ran her rivals ragged to take the two-mile-five handicap hurdle at Limerick in fine style.

Jack Gilligan bounced out in front on the 25/1 shot, trained by his father Paul, and she had the clear lead after a few flights.

The Mount Nelson mare was sent clear before the second-last and, despite a slightly untidy leap at the final flight, she could afford to ease up late on for a comprehensive 22-length success.

Long Wait Ends For Connections

Survivors Sister had fallen here at Christmas when looking likely to be placed.

"Prices (25/1) don't bother me but her run was very good here the last day. I thought she was booked to finish second but Shane (O'Callaghan) maintains she would have won,” said Gilligan senior.

"Coming here on this type of ground, you don't know what horses will handle it, but she is a good filly and is owned by good people.

“John Joe McGrath and Tom Quinn, both Galwaymen, own her and are great people.

"It has been a while since we've had a winner and the horses weren't right. Some had been running well, but they all look to be coming right now."
