Slade Power is enjoying a break following his latest success at Fairyhouse before being prepared for the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock in September.

Trainer Edward Lynam reports the three-year-old to be in tremendous shape after winning the Belgrave Stakes in testing conditions on Sunday.

That was the three-year-old's second victory in Listed company after he took the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock last month.

A return visit to the Merseyside track for the six-furlong Group One on September 8 is very much the target for Slade Power.

Lynam then plans to give his young speedster just one more run this year, in the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot on October 20.

"He took the race brilliantly and he handled the ground better than I thought he would handle it. He's obviously got a bit of class about him," said the County Meath handler.

"He's going to have a little break now and then be prepared for the Betfred.

"After that he'll just have one more race this year at Ascot in what used to be the Diadem.

"I only want to give him two more runs this year because I think he will be a lot better next year.

"He's a lovely horse and has got a great attitude. He came home after his last race and ate up. He's a consummate professional, a 100% racehorse."
