Andy Slattery teamed up with son Andrew as the pair claimed the Greyhound Racing Every Weekend Handicap at Dundalk with handicap debutant Drucker

Stepping up two-and-a-half furlongs on his first start outside of maiden company, the three-year-old showed that a test of stamina was just what was required.

Quickly into stride, Slattery Junior chased the early leader Alumni Lia before taking over in front at the furlong pole.

Finding plenty inside the last 200 yards, the eventual winner drew on his stamina reserves to run out a determined one-and-three-quarter lengths victor.

Andy Slattery said: "He wasn't showing much early in the season. We thought he was a nice horse last year, he had three runs and they were mediocre.

"I said to Pat (Garvey, owner) that he did his best piece of work last Saturday morning. Andrew rode him about two weeks ago at home and he said 'this is a nice horse'.

"He is developing. He said he is still a bit raw, he said there is more to come."
