Slight Hiccup For Roe

Vinnie Roe has suffered a slight setback only nine days before defending his Irish Field St Leger crown at the Curragh.

Although Dermot Weld´s charge has a remarkable fifth consecutive victory of the race in his sights, the seven-year-old´s preparations have been blighted after developing haematoma.

However, the Irish handler has played down the extent of the problem and is confident of a full recovery ahead of the Group One contest on September 17. 'The Irish St Leger is the next stop for him but I´ve one little problem with him as he´s got a little haematoma at the top of his quarter,' Weld told At The Races.

'He obviously got cast in his box - it´s nothing more than that.

'I think it will dissolve and resolve in the next 24 hours and I think we should be okay for Irish St Leger.'
