After the defection of The Big Doyen, the Follow Us On Twitter Hurdle turned into a match, with Smooth Tom ultimately coming out on top.

Attempting to make all under Alan O'Sullivan, Mozzies Sister was joined by the Andy Slattery-trained victor approaching the last and despite a far from fluent jump there, he soon got to the front, keeping on best to score by a length-and-a-half.

The pair flip-flopped in the market and Smooth Tom was returned the 4/5 favourite (from 11/10), with Mozzies Sister 1/1 from 4/6.

Owned and bred by Margaret O'Rourke and ridden to victory by Cian Quirke, the market leader was registering an eighth career win.

"When the entries came out there were only two horses who counted, and both turned up," Willie Slattery, brother of the winning trainer, reflected.

"All the press were tipping the other one but I couldn't see how, because we were never going to help Mozzies Sister, as we have a quicker Flat horse. She is a staying mare but ours is a Flat horse and is very good in small fields.

"I don't think the weight concession (18lb) counted with the speed they went as Mozzies Sister would have had to go hard for it to count.

"Our horse goes on every ground but doesn't like big fields and we'll keep him to small-field graded races now."
