Snow Sky all set for the Caulfield Cup Snow Sky is likely to be ridden prominently when he puts his Melbourne Cup aspirations on the line in the BMW Caulfield Cup on Saturday. Sir Michael Stoute's four-year-old colt made all of the running to take the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot, and has seemingly been well drawn in stall three for the esteemed Group One over a mile and a half. Snow Sky must carry joint-top weight with last year's Melbourne Cup winner Protectionist, but he does have the assistance of Damien Oliver, who has won the Caulfield Cup four times. Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager for owner Khalid Abdullah, told www.racing.com: "He travelled really well and had a good trip over. "He seems in good form and has put on weight. "He's drawn three, which is great, so I imagine we would have to be fairly handy. "The Caulfield Cup is one of the world's great races and that's what Juddmonte's in business to do - to try and win the big races. "He's a mile-and-a-half horse, really. We know he stays a bit further so two miles will be going into the unknown if he gets to Flemington (Melbourne Cup)." British interest is further spiked by the presence of Ascot Gold Cup winner Trip To Paris, trained by Ed Dunlop. Dunlop's travelling head lad Robin Trevor-Jones said: "He's a winner at seven furlongs back at home, so that shows he has a turn of foot. "And he's got gate five, which he can take full advantage of and be right in the thick of things. "The only little problem can be, and I'll be making this very clear to Tommy (Berry, jockey), that the horse will more than likely strike a flat spot, let's say with 700 metres to go, when everyone starts to let down and sprint. "But after he gets past that spot, he gets his momentum going and he'll be right in the finish. "I can see him well and truly being in the finish." The Roger Charlton-trained Quest For More is first reserve for the Caulfield Cup and will be rerouted to the Geelong Cup next Wednesday if there are no withdrawals before the cut-off point on Saturday morning.
