Society Ranger Superb At Wolverhampton The Shane Duffy trained Society Ranger ran out a comfortable winner of a one mile handicap at Wolverhampton yesterday in the hands of Robert Winston. The four-year-old gelded son of Bushranger is the second winner of the year for the small Co. Laois yard and is one of only four horses Duffy currently has to run. Duffy said: "I'm delighted for the lads who own him (The Superb Partnership). They are good friends of mine and they got a few quid. "Its not easy for small yards at the moment and we have to work extra hard to keep things going. Loyal and trusting owners are the key and it is great to repay them with a winner. "We only bought him last month out of Ado McGuinness' and a lot of the credit must go to Ado. He was very straight with us about the horse's limitations and needs and had him in fantastic shape. "Kevin Fanning, our Amateur in the yard, started schooling him and that also helped. "I have him entered at Leopardstown next weekend but we will probably head back to England instead as there are more opportunities for him there at the moment. Duffy's stable star, the six-time Dundalk scorer War Room, may make his debut over hurdles in the coming months at the age of eight. "War Room is in great form at the moment. He is so good on the all weather and has been a super little horse for us. We will probably try him on grass again to see if he can transfer his Dundalk form. I'm hoping there's a hurdle in him too during the summer as he jumps super. War Room is rated 68 on the All weather but has a mark of 55 on turf.
