Sole Power has 20 rivals standing in his way as he attempts to land his third win in the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.

Edward Lynam's veteran sprinter took the prize in 2013 and 2014 but was only fifth 12 months ago and finished down the field in the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket on his most recent appearance.

Goldream was a shock 20-1 winner of the King's Stand last year and he will again face a number of those who were in behind that day.

In addition to Sole Power, Robert Cowell's charge renews rivalries with Medicean Man (second), Muthmir (third), Pearl Secret (fourth), Take Cover (sixth) and Lancelot Du Lac (10th).

However, Cowell will decide on Tuesday morning whether or not his crack sprinter will defend his title.

The seven-year-old, who also landed the Prix de l'Abbaye last year, failed to take to life in Dubai over the winter and missed his intended prep in the Temple Stakes at Haydock because of easy ground.

Cowell said: "The ground is against him but we look at it this way - we have paid all this money to run and we may as well go all the way to the wire.

"Dubai didn't work for him. He didn't acclimatise well and all the tell-tale signs were there, so we let people know that.

"We got him back and he has been working really well - he's in fine fettle - but we didn't run at Haydock purely because of the ground.

"The ground is going to be against him at Ascot, so we will have to see what happens in the meantime and make a plan on the day."

Plenty of attention is sure to be focused on Mecca's Angel, who won the Nunthorpe last year and appreciates cut in the ground, and the Wesley Ward-trained Acapulco, winner of the Queen Mary at this meeting in 2015 and second to Mecca's Angel at York.

Profitable has been in excellent form for Clive Cox so far this year and he is another to note along with another American runner Mongolian Saturday, who won the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint for trainer Enebish Ganbat last October.
