Song Future Under Discussion

Soviet Song will not run again this season after being held up in her work by a sore foot.

Talks about the future of the five-year-old mare, owned by the Elite Racing Club and trained by James Fanshawe, are to take place at the weekend.

'She won´t run again this year. Obviously it´s very disappointing as we were looking forward to a successful autumn campaign with big targets such as the Breeders´ Cup Mile and the Sun Chariot,' said Elite´s racing manager Matthew Budden.

'She´s had a sore foot which has held her up. The bruising´s been slow to come out so James has been unable to get her ready in time.

'There is no decision on her future as yet. James and I will chat about it over the weekend.'

Soviet Song, winner of five Group One races, coughed the week after she finished second to Proclamation when bidding for back-to-back victories in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood in July.

After recovering from that she was found to be sore on her off-fore foot earlier this month which ruled her out of the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown and the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday.
