Spectacular Final Day Makes History At Goffs November Foal Sale

A spectacular final session of Goffs November Foal Sale provided a fitting conclusion to a record breaking week in which forty five foals realised ?100,000 plus, in comparison to twenty five last year. The week´s turnover (?23,371,000) and average (?30,040) both increased by 20% from the 2005 totals, while the strength in the market was reflected in a median increase of 48% from ?13,500 the previous year to ?20,000.

Sale topper on Friday was Abbeville & Meadow Court Stud's colt by the exciting sire Tiger Hill, who was knocked down to Richard O'Gorman at ?320,000. The foal, who is a half brother to the John Oxx trained two year old winner Four Sins and is closely related to Rockfel Stakes winner Germane, was bought for John Ferguson on behalf of Darley Stud Management. Anthony Stroud signed for the second highest priced foal (Lot 1127) late in the evening when paying ?310,000 for a Fasliyev half sister of two strong black type performers in Jessica's Dream and Majors Cast. The filly was consigned by Kilfeacle Stud. Peter Molony of Rathmore Stud went to ?260,000 to secure a much sought after son of Invincible Spirit (Lot 1072) from Kilteelagh Stud.

Offspring of Galileo stirred up plenty of interest amongst buyers during the week, and Friday saw two in particular reach the quarter of a million mark. First up was Lot 965, Seskin Stud's colt out of listed winning Spectrum mare Corrine who was purchased by Camas Park Stud for ?255,000. This was closely followed by Lot 988, a filly foal out of an own sister to multiple group winner Pearly Shells from Glen Stud who was bought by Luke Lillingston for ?250,000.

Commenting at the end of the best ever November Foal Sale at Goffs, Managing Director Matt Mitchell said 'This sale has gone from strength to strength in recent years and we must acknowledge with gratitude the terrific support of our vendors for what has been an incredible week. There is strength in all sectors of the market, with the domestic market being particularly strong ? this week's sale has been helped by the presence of new purchasers, many of whom are based in Ireland'.
