Sruthan to drop in trip Paul Deegan is looking forward to coming back in distance with Sruthan after he lost his unbeaten record in the Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh. The three-year-old looked well above average when making a winning debut on the all-weather at Dundalk at the end of March and confirmed that impression when claiming the Listed Tetrarch Stakes on his first start on turf at the Curragh. Stepped up to a mile and a quarter in the Gallinule, Sruthan seemingly failed to get home, finishing well beaten in fifth place. Deegan said: "I think he probably would actually stay 10 furlongs, but he was just far too keen the last day and didn't give himself a chance. "It took Chris (Hayes, jockey) three or four furlongs to get him settled and his chance was gone then. "He didn't have a hard race and came out of it in good form. He worked on Tuesday morning and I was very happy with how he went. "We'll come back in trip with him now, to either seven furlongs or a mile, and we'll look at races like the Ballycorus Stakes at Leopardstown and the Celebration Mile at Goodwood later on."
