Paul Deegan is looking forward to coming back in distance with Sruthan after he lost his unbeaten record in the Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh.

The three-year-old looked well above average when making a winning debut on the all-weather at Dundalk at the end of March and confirmed that impression when claiming the Listed Tetrarch Stakes on his first start on turf at the Curragh.

Stepped up to a mile and a quarter in the Gallinule, Sruthan seemingly failed to get home, finishing well beaten in fifth place.

Deegan said: "I think he probably would actually stay 10 furlongs, but he was just far too keen the last day and didn't give himself a chance.

"It took Chris (Hayes, jockey) three or four furlongs to get him settled and his chance was gone then.

"He didn't have a hard race and came out of it in good form. He worked on Tuesday morning and I was very happy with how he went.

"We'll come back in trip with him now, to either seven furlongs or a mile, and we'll look at races like the Ballycorus Stakes at Leopardstown and the Celebration Mile at Goodwood later on."
