John Oxx feels Sea Moon deserves a tilt at the Palmerstown House Estate Irish St Leger following a fine effort at the Curragh.

A Royal Ascot winner in 2012 for Sir Michael Stoute before spending two seasons in Australia, the seven-year-old returned from Down Under and was sent to Oxx earlier this year.

He made his debut for the Currabeg maestro in the St Leger Trial and ran an excellent race to fill the runner-up spot behind Order Of St George, who appears bound for the Leger at Doncaster on the same weekend.

Oxx said: "I was very happy with him as he'd been showing us mixed signals beforehand, but he ran a cracker.

"He was beaten by a very good horse on the day and he's been fine since so, all being well, he'll be ready to run in the Leger.

"The trial should bring him on a bit and he deserves his place."
