Stack has Million in mind for Curragh winner Well-backed Jordi Bear (9s — 6/1) made a winning handicap debut in the Curragh’s Kildare House Hotel Nursery today, as the Fozzy Stack-trained gelding scored in first time cheekpieces, under jockey Joey Sheridan. Carrying the colours of John Barrett and Craig Bernick, the son of St Mark’s Basilica had disappointed at Down Royal in mid-July but today quickened clear in the final furlong to score by 1.25 lengths from faster-finishing Which Wolf Wins, who had met some trouble in-running. Regarding the 75-rated winner, Stack stated “his first couple of runs were alright but I’d say in Down Royal he didn’t act on the track. I’m delighted for John (Barrett) and everyone, and hopefully he’s progressive. “He’s in the Goffs Million so whether we roll the dice in that or not, we’ll see.” Stack’s father Tommy Stack had previously won the forerunner of that Goffs Million - the Cartier Million, at the Phoenix Stakes in 1988 with Corwyn Bay.
