Star Connections Target Tingle

Paul Nicholls is eyeing a tilt at the Tingle Creek Chase with promising chaser Kauto Star.

Nicholls´ charge finished an eyecatching runner-up behind Monkerhostin in Tuesday´s Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter - his first outing for nine months.

The five-year-old will now be aimed at the major two-mile chases this season, with the Tingle Creek at Sandown in December heading the list of assignments.

'I was very happy with his performance after such a long time off as Monkerhostin is a very good horse,' Nicholls told the Racing Post.

'He came back fine and had an hour on the horse-walker, and he will be back cantering tomorrow.

'I´ve talked it over with Ruby (Walsh) and between us we think sticking to two miles is the right route for the horse this season.'
