Just as he did in Galway, Sugar Boy made all to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Premier Nursery for his trainer Patrick Prendergast with Chris Hayes in the saddle.

The son of Authorised won his maiden on the Saturday of the Galway Festival on the fourth time of asking beating Impound by half a length.

Having opened at 4/1 with Paddy Powers this morning the winner opened on track at just 5/2, touching 3/1 before going off the 11/4 second favourite. After making the early running he was ridden under two furlongs out and was pressed by the 13/8 favourite Designs On Rome a furlong from home.

However he pulled out more when challenged and went on to score by two lengths at the line in the colours of Richard Barnes.

Designs On Rome had to settle for second under Danny Grant for Pat Flynn while the maiden Fromajacktoaking ran well to take third a further three lengths back under Wayne Lordan for Paul Deegan at 5/1.

Winning trainer Patrick Prendergast said afterwards: "He should make a nice mile and a half horse next year. He doesn’t really like that ground.

"He is a half-brother to a Grade 1 winner in the States called Sarah Lynx.

"He will go to Listowel now for the good Nursery there and then he might run in the Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown towards the end of the season.

"He is a hardy horse. He was a slow learner but he knows his job now."
