Supercede takes dramatic Perth opener

Following a double yesterday, Gordon Elliott got Thursday off to a good start at Perth when Supercede landed a drama packed SIS Novices' Hurdle under Paul Carberry.

Glaced Over, the outsider of the four runners pulled up, after apparently suffering a slipped saddle and then the leader Monogram ran out with a circuit left to race. Wood Yer also ran very wide on this paddock bend.

All this left Supercede to race to a bloodless success for his owner Tom Howley junior. The blinkered son of Lahib was backed from 9/4 into 15/8.
