Fresh from a four-timer at Bellewstown on Saturday, trainer Gavin Cromwell confirmed that The Passing Wife is on track to run in the three-mile novice hurdle at the Punchestown Festival.

An impressive maiden winner at the Kildare venue on his penultimate start, the gelding stepped up on that form when beaten less than two lengths in third in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham last month.

With just the two runs this year, the son of Passing Glance comes into the latter part of the season fresher than most.

Gavin Cromwell said: "It was a lovely run in the Albert Bartlett, and he is in good form, so looking forward to Punchestown.

"Absolutely (a ground-versatile sort) - I think he won a bumper around here (Bellewstown) actually.

"He's very versatile - I think he has enough pace for two and a-half (miles), but equally I think he stays the three (miles)."
