Thrifty Of Digby was yet another to make all this evening, as she led home nine rivals in the Abbey Hotel Roscommon Handicap.

Making the breakthrough on her eighth start at Gowran in October, the Jessica Harrington-trained four-year-old failed to trouble the judge on her return to action in March, since finishing third to Church Mountain at Limerick.

Sent off a 15/2 chance this evening, the 67-rated chestnut was pushed along entering the straight and while ridden from the two-furlong pole, she kept finding for pressure under Shane Foley, holding off the effort of Vierson (16/1) by a length-and-a-quarter.

Ben Coen was aboard the runner-up for Ciaran Murphy, while Zipster (11/2) finished a never nearer third, three-quarters of a length away under Billy Lee.

Returned the 2/1 favourite, the Joseph O'Brien-trained Aeon's Aegis could only manage a disappointing fifth.

"It wasn't really the plan to make it but after seeing the first couple of races, and the way she jumped, we diverted to plan B.

"She enjoys being in front too and it's nice to get it.

"It was her first time on really good ground but she handled it well."

STEWARDS REPORT

R. Donaghue-Leahy, rider of Bright N Shine trained by Terence O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that her mount stumbled coming out of the stalls.
