One of the most eagerly awaited events on Killarney’s summer calendar is here as the July Racing Festival at Killarney Racecourse runs from Monday July 14th to Friday July 18th, 2025.

Monday to Wednesday will see the Flat enthusiasts well catered for while Thursday and Friday will host a National Hunt card. Below, we have outlined the top five jockeys to follow across the week in Killarney.

  • 1. Colin Keane

The man who needs no introduction is Colin Keane, who has been the leading jockey in Ireland for the last five years and is well on his way to winning the crown for the sixth year on the bounce.

Recently added as a retained rider for Juddmonte, Keane is riding out of his skin at present and the stats suggest he will have a very good week at Killarney too.

Last year, Keane rode seven winners from 24 rides at Killarney, a healthy return of 29 per cent, and he has a career strike-rate of 18 per cent at the County Kerry venue. He will have a strong book of rides each day.

    2. Declan McDonagh

He might not have too many rides at Killarney this week but a man under the radar to follow this week is Declan McDonagh, who surprisingly has a career return of 20 per cent at the track with a level stakes profit of +86.96.

In the last five seasons at the track, he has ridden nine winners from 38 rides and he will be looking forward to saddling the classy Zanahiyr in the 2m1f handicap on Tuesday.

    3. Dylan Browne McMonagle

It's hard to believe he is still just 22 but Dylan Browne McMonagle is another well worth following this week. He will pick up well fancied rides for Joseph O'Brien and will also branch out to other trainers as he will be well sought after.

McMonagle rode five winners from 20 rides at the track last season, a 25 per cent return, and he is only going to keep on improving with age as he gets used to the sharp nature of the track.

    4. Paul Townend

Later on in the week, it might be no surprise to see two jockeys who will be riding for Willie Mullins head the list. Paul Townend rode four winners from just nine rides at the track last season with a level stakes profit of +21.28 and although he might not be much of a price this year, winners should be guaranteed.

The champion jockey might only have one or two rides this week but he could be worth banking on.

    5. Patrick Mullins

Similarly, Patrick Mullins won't have too many rides this week but he is likely to have at least one outing in a bumper and is likely to go off a warm order.

Mullins had two winners from four rides at the track last season and the year prior he had three winners from four.
