Tough test for Agnes on comeback Agnes Stewart makes her first competitive appearance in over 600 days in Sunday's Finlay Volvo International Stakes at the Curragh. The Eddie Lynam-trained four-year-old won twice from four starts as a juvenile, including an impressive victory in the May Hill Stakes at Doncaster. She was narrowly denied Group One glory in the Fillies' Mile at Newmarket the following month and makes her belated comeback at Group Three level this weekend. Lynam said: "She was obviously a very good two-year-old but was out of training for nearly all last year. We just had to leave her alone. "She's well and ready for a run but it is a fact-finding mission really." Agnes Stewart faces four opponents, with Aidan O'Brien sending Sir Isaac Newton back into battle just eight days after landing the Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot. Chemical Charge is a major contender for Ger Lyons. The dual winner ran an excellent race on his return from a near two-year absence in the Silver Stakes three weeks ago, finding only subsequent Royal Hunt Cup winner Portage too strong.
