Tragic death of Australian rider Australian jockey Carly-Mae Pye has died as a result of the injuries she suffered in a fall at Callaghan Park on Monday. The Queensland-based rider was taking part in a barrier trial when the incident happened and was taken straight to hospital and placed in intensive care. Despite the best possible care she was sadly unable to recover from her injuries. Racing Queensland's CEO Darren Condon said: "Carly-Mae was a true champion of our sport, who will be remembered as a brilliant horsewoman. "Racing Queensland offers its sincerest condolences to Carly-Mae's family and partner Tim Cook. "The racing community, particularly in Rockhampton, is in mourning this evening and Racing Queensland will continue to offer its support during this difficult time."
