Treasure Rose completed a double at Down Royal for Johnny Murtagh and made it an across the card 41/1 treble on the evening for the Curragh trainer when taking the Proparamedics And Medicall Handicap.

The Tony Smurfit-owned filly was fitted with cheekpieces on her handicap debut having been placed a number of times in maidens and was patiently ridden by Donagh O’Connor.

He waited until about 150 yards out before sending her to the front and she appeared to idle when getting there and needed to be driven out to hold off Minaun View by half a length. Eddie G was the same distance further back in third.

O'Connor said, “First ride (for Johnny Murtagh) and first winner, it was great.

"Plenty of placings and she was knocking on the door. Very consistent without getting her head in front; it worked out well today.

"We said we would sit fourth or fifth and sneak around and try to cuddle her into it. I travelled very well into the straight and when the second horse came off the rail, I was keen to go up that way.

"100 per cent (see her going forward;, her form in maidens was a lot stronger than what the handicap was."

Murtagh was on the mark earlier on the card with the well-backed Magical Moonlight (9/2), while Zenford (10/11fav) was also successful at Limerick.
