Trefflich looks the one to beat The four-day Rose Of Tralee Festival meeting continues with the Carlsberg Ruby Stakes the highlight on a seven race mixed card again beginning at 2.20. The mile Listed event has attracted a field of ten runners, and the John Oxx-trained Trefflich looks the one to beat following a close-up fourth to Solskjaer in a Group 2 at the Curragh. Wathab, fourth behind Ulfah at the Curragh last Saturday, and the in-foal Cache Creek look the main threats but the lightly-raced Trefflich may have more scope for improvement. Galway Hurdle winner Cloone River is switched to fences in the two miles beginners chase, where Mirpour (third in the Ballybrit feature) is another interesting recruit to chasing. Marinnette appeared to put up a much improved performance when fifth to Ouija Board in the Oaks but she faces a number of well-bred types in the fillies maiden including Yesterday´s sister Because. A maximum of 17 are declared for the mile handicap, and Beautiful Affair showed her ability to handle soft ground when runner-up at Tipperary last week
