Treve 'in great form' ahead of Prix Vermeille Treve is pleasing connections as she continues her build-up for an attempt at a record third Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe success at Longchamp in October. The five-year-old overcame a slightly disappointing campaign last term to notch up a second Arc win but she has been in top form so far this year, winning each of her two starts. Her most recent victory came in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud back in June, with trainer Criquette Head-Maarek subsequently giving her a spell on the easy list before starting to gear up for her major autumn target. The Prix Vermeille at Longchamp on September 13 is her intended prep event and Harry Herbert, racing manager for owner Al Shaqab Racing, reports the mare to be sparkling on the gallops. He said: "Treve is in great form. She did her first piece of easy work back yesterday and both Criquette Head and Thierry Jarnet were delighted with her. "Her work will be stepped up now for her next target, which is the Vermeille next month, then it will be on to try to win Arc number three."
