'Fancy-prices Flynn' bags another big win Galway Hurdle-winning trainer Paul Flynn was in flying form following Only One Scobie 's seemingly unlikely 50/1 success in Killarney’s T1 Healthcare Handicap today, later playfully providing jockey Leigh Roche with backhanded compliments. A 25/1-winner under Roche at Leopardstown in June, Only One Scobie had disappointed on recent outings but today bounced back to form when making all the running, to score a straightforward success over Chapel Lane . Longford-based ex-jockey and character Flynn, whose Moon Dice landed the 2011 Galway Hurdle, quipped “I’ve realised that if I put Leigh Roche up, their prices just drift. He won on Nibras Rainbow here for me in May, at 33/1 and, with me training and Leigh riding, we get any prices! “We did fancy him, as he was sore after his Fairyhouse run and things didn’t go right before Galway when he missed a week, and was drawn wide. I felt he was a better horse today and couldn’t believe his price! “He had beaten all of these in Leopardstown and ran well afterwards, but obviously if you don’t back them they will drift. The owners backed him though, and they’re happy.” For his part, Roche concluded “the horse was fresh and well, and if Paul listened to me earlier in the year, he’d have won six races on the bounce by now! “Once I got my way in front, he pricked his ears and nothing came to him. He is smart at that level but will have to improve again now.”
