Trigger hits the mark at third attempt Golden Trigger found plenty late on to make it third time lucky at Dundalk tonight. The Natalia Lupini-trained colt was soon in front in the seven furlong maiden and was asked for an effort a furlong-and-a-half from home as Watch Tower came to press him. The 11/4 favourite asserted in the closing stages to post a convincing two-length victory under Wayne Lordan. Golden Trigger had been placed on his first two outings at the track. He was dropping back to seven today having been third over a mile last time. Assistant trainer Craig Bryson said: "He ran very well on both runs before that. "Dropped back to seven this evening and the plan was to jump and let him go forward - not fight him, and use the experience. It is nice to see him step forward and get it done. "He's not shy of pace. His mother was very fast and his dad wasn't bad either! "He's a local-bred horse to us, so it is great to get a win. "He'll be offered for sale, if someone wants to come and buy him. If not, he'll be on the team for next year. "The owners are quite patient, they are a bunch of local breeders. "You can (see him as a three-year-old) - he is a May foal, so if he matures away over the winter. Maybe a wee break now would do him no harm. "Seven to a mile is his trip, but he could go back for a stiff six. He's very like the mother who had pace and was third in a Nunthorpe (York, 2010)." (Quotes by Michael Graham)
