Truth Be Told proves most genuine of all Billy Lee gains another success as Truth Be Told (13/2 — 5/1) scores in the Bahrain Turf Club October Handicap at Leopardstown over a mile and three furlongs. Michael Grassick acquired this Too Darn Hot gelding from Dermot Weld earlier this year, and he scored off 10lb lower than today's mark on his stable debut. He finished sixth in the Petingo on Champions Day and has since been a non-runner on account of slower conditions. Owned by K Campbell, his four-year-old was travelling strongly when awaiting a gap over two furlongs out. An opening appeared three off the rail, and when asked by the champion jockey-elect, the bay showed a sharp turn of foot to get up and beat Thatwilldoso (12/1) by half a length. Latin America was a further short head behind in third. Successful trainer Michael Grassick said, "We've been waiting and waiting. The rain we got overnight helped. He just doesn't want extremes of ground. He needed a bit of luck there for the gap to open. Billy said he was brave. He said it was only half a gap but he went through it for him and picked up well. There have been a few people trying to buy him but I've a brave owner. He was a good owner with dad for years. He's never had a real good horse so he's enjoying this fella."
