UK looking for revenge in Jockeys Challenge at Limerick

The Betfair Jockeys Challenge takes place at Limerick tomorrow evening with the UK team headed by Mick Fitzgerald facing keen opposition from the top Irish riders.

Fitzgerald partners the Noel Meade-trained Thari in the featured Sharp Minds Betfair Hurdle Race, and he is joined on the cross channel team by Andrew Thornton, Tom Scudamore, Jamie Moore, Tom Doyle and Timmy Murphy.

Niall Quinn will act as captain for the UK while the home team, which recorded a resounding win by 88 points to 24 last year, is led by Keith Wood. Barry Geraghty, David Casey, Ruby Walsh, Paul Carberry, Ken Whelan and local lad Andrew McNamara will try to make sure the Betfair Gold Cup stays at home.

The two-day fixture starts this evening with the first race off at 5.45pm, and Picturehouse are playing live on stage at 9.00pm. Saturday´s Jockeys’ Challenge National Hunt card starts at 6.00pm, with The Saw Doctors rounding off proceedings at 9.15pm.
