Unbeaten Don't Touch ready for Ayr Gold Cup Don't Touch is reported to be in tip-top condition as he prepares to put his unbeaten record on the line in the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup at the Western meeting on Saturday. The Richard Fahey-trained gelding bids to become the first three-year-old to land the prestigious sprint handicap since Funfair Wane in 2002, yet only made his racecourse debut in May. His lack of experience did not stop him taking his 100 per cent run to four in the Great St Wilfrid Handicap at Ripon last month and he has continued to thrive since. "He's a horse that doesn't do a lot at home. He goes through the motions a bit, works nice," Fahey's assistant Robin O'Ryan said. "Obviously we thought he was a nice horse but to keep winning like he does, he keeps surprising us. We don't know how good he is, he just does enough. "He hadn't had a lot of experience before the Great St Wilfrid. Tony (Hamilton, jockey) felt he didn't act on the track and still won. We'd like decent ground for him. "He's in the form of his life and couldn't be happier with him. "We're not totally convinced six is his trip. Because he is a such relaxed horse, I don't think seven would be problem to him. You can put him anywhere and he'll be doing his best work at the end. He's quite a progressive horse. "He'll be an exciting horse for next year whatever happens."
