Born Bright added to a Fairyhouse maiden win earlier this season when landing the Leugh Handicap Hurdle for owner/trainer Claire O’Connell at Thurles.

The 10/1 shot jumped past the front-running Pebble Bleu at the penultimate flight and after asserting before the final flight, kept on well on the run-in under talented 5lb claimer James Smith to score by four and three-quarter lengths. Love Like This took the runner-up spot with Therellbguddaysyet a further two lengths adrift in third.

O’Connell said, "She is a homebred and William Flood, who stands Kalanisi, is a great family friend and says that Kalanisi's are a little better being undercooked, so we had her fresh and well in herself today.

"We gave her a little break after New Year's Day as she had a good bit of racing done and the drying ground helped.

"She'll hopefully go back to Fairyhouse where she'll hopefully sneak into a handicap during Easter."
