United On The Way Back

Lucy Wadham is hoping to have Grade One-winning hurdler United back in action in February ahead of a run at the Cheltenham Festival.

The four-year-old filly was last seen when running out an impressive 12-length winner of the Champion Four Year Old Hurdle at Punchestown in April.

However, United subsequently suffered a cut which required an operation and a long recovery period means she has just returned to Wadham´s care this week.

'She´s only just come back into the yard and we hope to start cantering next week. She´s been doing some walking and trotting and is in good form,' said the Newmarket handler.

'We are hoping to give her a run before Cheltenham but obviously we will be quite tight time-wise. I would expect we will be looking for a run about February.

'We will probably give her a handicap entry as well as the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and just see how it´s going.'

United is as low as 20-1 with Ladbrokes and Coral for the Smurfit Champion Hurdle.
