The John Ryan-trained Unknown Fortune (25/1) ran out a convincing winner of the CT Electrical Maiden Hurdle for jockey Daniel King.

The eight-year-old had run twice previously and finished 12th of 19 runners and 6th of 14, but she showed a tremendous attitude to go between rivals and claim the contest.

Having sat handy throughout, the gaps appeared at the right time and she went on to win by two and three-quarter lengths, with the Philip Rothwell-trained Rosenborg in behind.

Speaking after the race, trainer John Ryan and jockey Daniel King said:

John Ryan:

"I was a bit disappointed with her in Kilbeggan, but I'm delighted with that today. She's a quality mare who jumps well, and will jump a fence in time.

"Joe Kenny bred her and has had all the family. Joe's had plenty of good horses over the years and thinks this is a good mare."

Daniel King added:

"We went a good gallop and she relaxed well with me. She missed three out and two out, but landed running at the back of them. I still had plenty of horse under me and got a nice split off the bend.

"She was still quite green throughout, so hopefully she can continue to improve."
